PRAYER ON ST. PATRICK’S
DAY
Dear Lord, your servant,
St. Patrick, was first a slave to, and then a servant of, your people in
As he endured years of hardship
as a slave, so help us to persevere through trials which seem to serve no
purpose at the time.
As Patrick’s time in
so help us to see how our
sufferings strengthen us to do your will.
Later, as Patrick’s people
withstood great hardship, protected your word in monasteries, and brought your
Church to many new lands,
so help us also to grow in
faithfulness to you and be your instruments of the world’s conversion
Amen.

FROM THE WISDOM OF BISHOP BARAGA….
“I met Fr. Baraga on his way to
assist the distressed and needy, about two hundred and fifty miles from L’Anse
Bay on the Found du Lac trail. His snowshoes had given out in deep snow. Our
party made him comfortable and one of my men repaired his snowshoes. Some
months later, he told me of his trip and how he found the family sick and
destitute; that he had given them medicine and provided for them.

Dear friends:
What a great season of Lent we’ve had!!
There are so many things for which we need to be grateful to God; namely:
1.
The renewed spiritual life of many people and families.
2.
An increased attendance at weekend Masses.
3.
A fruitful
4.
Many individuals and families have returned to a more activated church
life.
5.
Fifteen young couples are getting married during this year.
6. Three individuals will come into full
communion with the Catholic Church.
7.
The completion of the restoration of Our Most Holy Name of Jesus Church
and the rededication coming up on March 19th.
There is much more for which we need to
be grateful to God. Don’t just “count your blessings,” but also be thankful for
all the blessings.
I invite each of you to participate in
the Holy Week services at our church. Let’s bring back the tradition of
attending church with your family during this special time of the year.
On Easter Sunday I will fly out to visit
my family for a month. My Mom will be 80 years old and I will be one-half of
that! Also, my uncle
who is a priest is
celebrating his Golden Jubilee of priesthood and my aunt, a Nun, is celebrating
her Golden Jubilee, so it will be a wonderful time to be together.
I wanted to personally send each of you
my Easter greetings, but due to everything going on at our three parishes, it didn’t
happen! Please consider this as a personal greeting to each of you. I will miss
you all and ask that you keep me in your prayers.
Happy Easter to you and your families!!
Fr. Augustin
