PRAYERS ANSWERED:  At this time of the Holy Season of Easter I would like to take this opportunity to thank so many of you for your prayers on my behalf. I was in Marshfield on March 13. Retests were done and found to be not so grim as previously reported. God truly gave me a lot to think about and pray on during Lent.  Praise to Jesus Christ, now and forever!

Happy Easter and may the risen Christ smile upon you.  Anne Williams

Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

The youth of Resurrection Parish in Hancock are holding a pancake breakfast next Saturday, March 29 from 8 am until noon at Resurrection Parish. The purpose of the breakfast is to raise funds for their annual mission trip. This year the group is going to Mishawauka, Indiana from June 16-21 to provide their help to those in need.

Please consider supporting this wonderful cause!

“He is risen!”  Let all creation rejoice and give Him praise To our Lord, Jesus Christ – “He is risen!”

These are quite possibly the most important words that we will ever hear in our life time.  These words mean, for us, that the gates of heaven are thrown wide open for us, His faithful people.

Today, we celebrate the most solemn and holy day of our Church year – Christ’s Resurrection.  Christ accepted His cross freely thus freeing us from the power of Satan.  We, as human beings, find it hard to understand such great and glorious love. Christ renews His suffering, death and resurrection - this New, Holy and Eternal Sacrifice every time we celebrate His life giving supper at the altar.

Through this Paschal Mystery we have been buried with Christ in Baptism so that we may be raised to new life with Him now and forever.  God has restored us to new and wonderful life by the triumphant death and resurrection of His Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.  May we always put this life saving mystery into action all the days of our life and continue to grow closer to God our Heavenly Father.

I have just come from the Blessing and Rededication of the Most Holy Name of Jesus/Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha.  It was a splendid celebration with about 70 or so people attending.  As Fr. Augustine stated back in March of 2007 “We will rise for these ashes!”  As we celebrated the ashes of Ash Wednesday last March, today we celebrated the resurrection of Christ in our restored church.

May God bless you this Easter Season!

Fr. George

BISHOP’S NEW VISION FOR FAITH FORMATION AND EDUCATION, Part I

In order to achieve a unified, fully-formed culture of Catholicism throughout the Diocese of Marquette, Bishop Alexander Sample has adopted a new vision for faith formation and education. Through the general areas of faith formation and education for parish catechetical programs, Catholic schools, youth ministry and adult faith formation, the new vision offers “the means by which each of us can accept with enthusiasm our responsibility to share Christ – to be a people of hope,” the bishop said.  “It is the time of a new future for us. We can do this together, but it starts with each of us being renewed ourselves in faith so that we can be the people that reveal Christ to the world.”

In this weekend’s issue of THE U.P. CATHOLIC NEWSPAPER, Bishop Sample discusses the need for the new vision in his “Faith Matters” column, and the first of a four-part series of articles detailing the new vision also appears. Part I highlights parish catechesis. Studies have been conducted, committees have been formed and a standardized curriculum is being developed that will strengthen and bring conformity to parish catechesis. “There is no greater gift that we have to give to our young people than the gift of our faith,” the bishop said.
